The main objective of establishing this department was to provide all capabilities that develop the field of government services and facilitate their access to customers through the application of the best smart technologies, methods of communication and exchange of information between institutions and individuals and raising the level of performance and efficiency in the government work system. In this Article, we will tackle on the strategic role of the e-Government and its development in the Emirate of Fujairah; we will focus on the services provided by the e-Government and its main initiatives to support digital transformation.
e-Government is serving the Fujairah local governmental departments in technology, innovation, and the improvement in bringing modern technologies.
e-government is now catering around thirty two (32) Fujairah local governmental departments, where the primary services include the provision of ERP Oracle services, web portal voice stream, Wi-Fi connectivity and infrastructure related activities. Fujairah e-Government is the concerned authority to provide any kind of infrastructure related software/hardware services to local governmental departments. In summary Fujairah e-Government is the technology partner (Information Sharing Partner - ISP) to the local departments. Currently Fujairah e-Government has ERP services (Oracle EBS) that serve the needs of all local departments, where all these local departments have point to point private network connectivity.
All local departments portals are hosted inthe e-Government’s data center; basically, the e-Government department has a data center that caters all the local governmental departments’ infrastructure.
…the main IT support personal for local governmental departments is centralized at e-Government, to support for any clarifications and help, including on how to proceed work and licenses (i.e. Microsoft licenses, back up licenses, servers, connectivity…etc).

In addition, e-Government also provides federal services connectivity to the local department, hence in case any local department needs connectivity with federal services, such connectivity shall be through e-Government.
The e-Government is focusing on UAE vision 2024 and has taken several steps in the direction of digital transformation. There are two major initiatives related to digital transformation. The first, being the paperless office initiative, and stared last year, where local departments are now digitizing the correspondence and documents, based on the document management and correspondence management systems that have been introduced, with aim to bring all the local governmental departments under this initiative to attain a paperless office among all.
Another major initiative that the Fujairah e-Government is also taking, is the improvement of services online (digital services) and the introduction of Fujairah Pay, where Fujairah e-government is now studying the existing processes and how a decent form of e-services can be made. A successful example of implementing that, was with Fujairah Free Zone, where digital services is now available to customers and investors.
Apart from that, Fujairah e-Government is also providing payment gateway “Fujairah Pay”, where online payment is routed through Fujairah Pay, the Fujairah government’s payment gateway.
The Fujairah e-Government has a strategic role in developing the field of government services, it is actively working on major digital transformation plan, in line with the UAE vision. A two (2) years roadmap was developed to bringing all digital services in a one stop portal “Fujairah.ae”. The single Portal will enable individuals and customers around the world to access all the information and services related to all the local governmental departments which are providing services to the public and to the citizens. On top of that, bringing artificial intelligence, robotic automations and machine learning is on the roadmap for the coming years.
