month’s Law Update

Once again it is our pleasure to bring to you a special edition of Law Update focusing on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As the economic, social, and business challenges of COVID fade further into distant memory, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its advancement toward realizing the goals set by Vision 2030, and in many instances, the Kingdom has increased its aspirations and targets to be attained in the coming years. The pace of implementation of Vision 2030 and overall growth in the Kingdom continues to increase at a dramatic rate and shows no signs of slowing. Real and continued progress in giga projects such as NEOM, the Red Sea Global, Diriyah, Roshn, and Qiddiya, along with countless other mega, large, and medium sized projects and internal investments, headline the march toward the Kingdom’s vision and support the conclusion that the future promise is being implemented and is sustainable.

From a legal and regulatory perspective, new laws, regulations and reforms continue to be rolled out, which are changing the legal and regulatory landscape, symbolically similar to the mobilization of machinery and equipment that are molding and shaping the physical terrain.

We have seen the issuance of the first licenses granted to international law firms, and the growing push and interest in numerous companies toward the establishing of a regional headquarters in the Kingdom. A newly promulgated Companies Law and further reforms in IP, Disputes, Data, and Financial Crime, are but a few of the highlights of the regulatory developments.
